FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is the CS-Pro VET really as powerful as current shock wave devices?
Yes, for a detailed breakdown, see the device comparison page. The CS-Pro VET not only delivers high-pressure shock waves but does so more consistently and reliably than existing focused ESWT devices.
What are the different types of Focused ESWT Devices?
- Focused shock waves can be produced in three ways: electrohydraulic, electromagnetic and piezoelectric.
- The CS-Pro VET uses piezoelectric transducers and consistently produces high-pressure, focused shock waves at all energy settings.
- The electrohydraulic competitors we tested produced high-energy pulses but often, shock waves were not produced at all.
- The piezoelectric competitors we tested consistently produced pulses, but the pulses did not meet the classic shock wave requirements of a high pressure and rapid rise time.
- The CS-Pro VET always generates clinically efficacious energy levels with no sedation required while being quieter, smaller, more consistent, and less painful.
Why is the CS-Pro VET so quiet compared to electrohydraulic systems?
Electrohydraulic shock wave devices rely on vaporizing water in the spark gap of an electrode and focusing that energy with a metal reflector. That process is inherently inefficient, noisy, hard to control, and leads to rapid electrode erosion. Our piezoelectric system is battery operated and highly efficient. All the energy produced by the piezoelectric plates are precisely directed to a focal point. The result is the quietest ESWT device on the market.
Is the device painful?
The CS-Pro VET can sting in particularly sensitive areas at high energy settings, but the device generally produces a prickly sensation at the treatment site.
Is sedation necessary?
No, sedation is never needed. Patients tolerate treatment extremely well, thanks to a carefully optimized focal volume and consistent shock waves.
How do I know the unit is functioning properly?
So long as you have attached the standoff correctly and hear the device clicking, the CS-Pro VET will transmit therapeutic energy to the patient. If you want to be sure, turn up the energy setting and test it on your wrist. If you feel it, you’ll know the device is working?
How much couplant oil should I apply?
A pea-sized drop of couplant oil spread on the curved surface of the transducer array is all that is required. For more detailed instructions, see the CS-Pro VET: Standoff Swapping Tutorial
Who can buy the CS-Pro VET?
Veterinary professionals and animal rehab specialists are the only authorized purchasers of the CS-Pro VET.
Are there any contraindications, warnings, or precautions?
The most common side effects are redness and soreness at the treatment site, which usually quickly dissipates. Focused ESWT is known to be safe and effective with a very low incidence of side effects. However, there are instances where ESWT should NOT be used
Contraindications for Focused ESWT:
- Malignant tumor in the treatment area (not as an underlying disease)
- Fetus in the treatment area
- Epiphyseal plate in the treatment area
- Brain or Spine in the treatment area
- Heart and lung tissue in the treatment area
- Eyes in the treatment area
- Severe coagulopathy or use of blood thinner medication
